Arkema Inc. manufactures fluoropolymer process aids under the trade name Kynar® PPA. These process additives aid in the extrusion of thermoplastic resins, particularly polyolefins. Kynar® PPA can provide a range of benefits, including the elimination of melt fracture, reduction of die build-up, increased output, and faster changeovers. Kynar® Fluoropolymer PPAs are available in powder and pellet form.
The fluoropolymer business unit of Arkema Inc. manufacturers Kynar 500® FSF® PVDF resin and Kynar Aquatec® PVDF latex for architectural coatings on building components. At this year's IRE show we will continue to promote Kynar 500® resin, that is used to make metal coatings that are factory applied to roofing panels, as the original superior performance coating. Kynar Aquatec® latex, that is used to make field applied metal restoration and cool white roof coatings.
Arkema manufactures Kynar®and Kynar Flex® PVDF resins. These resins are commonly used in chlorine related applications due to its excellent chemical and permeation resistance, even at elevated temperatures. On display will be various Kynar®components such as lined and solid pipe, pumps, tower packings, valves, fabricated tanks, and fittings. Kynar® PVDF is commonly used to handle many chlorinated compounds such as sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, vinyl chloride monomer, chlorobenzene, methyl chloride, methylene chloride, chlorinated water, calcium chlorate, chlorine dioxide, chloroform, and metallic chlorides.
Kynar® resins are materials of choice for applications requiring high purity and chemical resistance. Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF can be used to manufacture processing components described in ASME-BPE such as piping, tubing, fittings, tanks and other contact surfaces requiring USP Class 6 or FDA compliant materials that can also be steam and chemically cleaned. Kynar® polymer is particularly resistance to cleaning agents containing chlorine, bromine or ozone-based systems.
Kynar® PVDF is used as a binder in both anodes and cathodes, and as a separator coating for Lithium Ion Batteries. Kynar® fluoropolymers are available in powder, pellet, and aqueous forms with a variety of molecular weights.
Rilsan® Powder Coatings protect metal substrates and extends the service life and reduces recoating costs of pumps, valves, pipes and other pieces of equipment used in the water industry. Based on polyamide 11, Rilsan® thermoplastic powder coatings provide outstanding corrosion, abrasion, and impact resistance. In addition, centrifugal pumps coated with Rilsan® powder coatings exhibit reduced cavitation and pressure loss. NSF 61 and incidental food contact approval is available with Rilsan® powder coatings.
