Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF are used to manufacture pipes, tubing, fittings, valves, pumps, tower packing, and tanks to handle hot, strong acids in the metal preparation industry. Kynar® PVDF resists strong acids and is capable of handling high temperatures up to 150°C. In particular, Kynar® PVDF fluid handling components stand up well to HF, HCl, Nitric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid and Chromic Acid. Kynar® resins are the material of choice for applications requiring high purity and chemical resistance. Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex<® PVDF can be used to manufacture processing components described in ASME-BPE such as piping, tubing, fittings, tanks and other contact surfaces requiring USP Class VI or FDA compliant materials that can also be steam and chemically sterilized. Kynar® polymer is particularly resistant to cleaning agents containing chlorine, bromine and ozone-based systems. Kynar® PVDF fluid handling systems can also be cleaned in place with steam without losing performance.

Kynar® resins offer excellent chemical resistance even at elevated temperatures in a variety of chemicals. Arkema provides plenum-rated polymers used for corrosive waste drainage pipes and other components. Select grades of Kynar® PVDF can easily achieve the flame spread and smoke developed rating of 25/50 when tested in full accordance with ASTM E 84 or UL 723. With its exceptional chemical resistance and mechanical strength, Kynar® PVDF pipe is an excellent choice for use in the plenum for applications such as corrosive waste drainage and laboratory chemical systems. Kynar® PVDF is UL® listed as well as ICC-ES PMG-1060 and IAPMO ER 0250 compliant.
