Arkema Inc. and Polymer Engineering Company Ltd. have developed the capability to blend high performance Kynar Flex® PVDF with various types of rubber. The combination of a thermoplastic fluoropolymer with rubber materials allows melt processing through chemical compatibilization and vulcanization. The capability to create various fluoropolymer and rubber combinations results in products that have a range of properties provided by each respective component.

Arkema starts up its 50% capacity increase of Kynar® fluoropolymer for the lithium-ion battery business at its Changshu plant in China in December 2020, with the first commercial supplies for January 2021.

Today, Arkema successfully placed its first ever Green Bond fully dedicated to the financing of its new world-scale plant in Singapore to manufacture 100% bio-based Rilsan® polyamide 11. For a total amount of €300 million, this Green Bond has a maturity of 6 years and an annual coupon of 0.125%. The offering was more than 10 times oversubscribed.
Kynar Flex® 3030-50 PVDF resin is a highly flexible, high viscosity resin designed for extrusion processing. This new resin is suited for many applications including wire and cable, fuel lines and industrial hoses.
The famous Japanese brand specializing in technical footwear and clothing has launched a new version of its iconic "Wave Rider" shoe range, the Mizuno Wave Rider 24. This shoe features Mizuno’s new “Enerzy midsole technology” with their classical "Wave Plate" embedded in the foam. This wave plate is made with our Pebax® Rnew® polymer, a bio-based thermoplastic derived from castor beans.
Arkema announces an innovative and long-term partnership with Nutrien Ltd, the largest integrated agricultural company in the world, for the supply of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride to Arkema’s Calvert City (KY) site. This project has many advantages as it secures a competitive access to anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, the main raw material for fluorine chemistry, it supports the growth of fluoropolymers in the attractive segments of water treatment, electronics and batteries, and it offers greater environmental protection than more traditional production processes.
The founding members of the ‘Pragati’ project for sustainable castor crop – Arkema, BASF, Jayant Agro-Organics along with implementation partner Solidaridad – recently met to celebrate the successful results of phase 1 of the project and formally committed to phase 2, which will extend the program until July 31, 2022.
